John Wesley HarrisonBioJohn hails from Austin, Texas- one of the greatest cities on the planet! He got his first taste of the stage through Kay Greenhaw, choir director at Doss Elementary school. He later got the chance to study with Miz Bunny Dees, drama director at Anderson High School, where he developed a deep love for the stage. Through daily whippings and beatings from Miz Dees, he learned some discipline and to say thank you. He stays in touch with Bunny Dees to this day.
Outside of school, he worked with Tony Perensky at Brite Lites Studio and eventually with Ron Hayden at 2 Chairs Studio, where Ron introduced him to the Meisner technique and encouraged him to make the jump to New York City. John and his wife Christi moved to New York City, where he began studying immediately with Barbara Marchant at the William Esper Sutdio. Barbara guided John through two of the most important years of his career and helped launch him into the New York that would become his new home.
Shortly after studying at the William Esper Studio, John co-founded the Strings Attached Theater Company with some of his classmates, a company dedicated to working with new playwrights and giving life to new works. Soon thereafter he became a founding member of JARADOA Theater Company, a company dedicated to "Mercy, Beauty, and Truth." JARADOA maintains outreach programs as well as main stage performances throughout the year.
Since his days at Anderson High School, John has enjoyed working in a number of film, stage, and commercial projects and has traveled most of Europe. He and his wife enjoy vintage swing dancing (Lindy Hop,) and are thrilled to be in one of the other greatest cities on the planet.
